The Almaviva Santé Group changes dimension by merging with Clinique Arago and the private hospital group Domus Cliniques

DV France, Gimv, UI Gestion and the practitioners at Clinique Arago in Paris are combining their activities within the Almaviva Santé entity to form a Group of clinics centred around centres of excellence. With this merger, Almaviva Santé becomes the leading private healthcare provider in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, expanding its presence in the Paris region and reinforcing its commitment to medical excellence. The range of healthcare services has been expanded, enabling the Group to become the leading private hospital provider in the region. More broadly, it is now the 6th largest private hospital group in France (with 22 establishments).

Under the leadership of its Chairman, Bruno Marie, who founded it in 2007, Almaviva Santé is driving forward a dynamic based on the quality of the care it offers. In practical terms, this means setting up centres of excellence. Orthopaedics is one example of the implementation of this strategy: all the Group's establishments, and in particular the Clinique Juge in Marseille, offer very high quality care in this discipline. Medical excellence in this speciality will be further enhanced by the Domus Cliniques Group, particularly the Oxford clinic in Cannes, which is part of the same approach, and by the Arago clinic, one of the national benchmarks for orthopaedic surgery, which completes the system in the Paris region. Another example is the creation of a state-of-the-art ophthalmology centre at the Clinique Juge in Marseille.

Geographical complementarity

This merger also symbolises a geographical fit for the three players. It intensifies Almaviva Santé's presence in its two key regions:

  • In Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, with 14 establishments, Almaviva Santé becomes the leading private hospital group, by combining the 7 structures of Domus Cliniques and those of Almaviva Santé .
  • In the Ile-de-France region, the Group's local presence has been strengthened by the merger of 8 establishments: 5 for Domus Cliniques, the Clinique Arago and 2 for Almaviva Santé. This is a further step in the development of a second regional hub, which Almaviva Santé began in early 2015 with the acquisition of Hôpital Privé d'Evry. This latest transaction confirms the Group's ambition to become a major healthcare player in the Ile-de-France region.

A merger guided bysharedvalues

The merger of Domus Cliniques and Clinique Arago with the Almaviva Santé Group is based on a shared vision of the business of private healthcare professionals.

For the three entities, constant improvement inthe quality of patient care and ongoing dialogue with care teams are the cornerstones of their ambitions ; they also guide their actions, particularly in terms of investment.

This project is also underpinned by the experience, dynamism and entrepreneurial commitment of the people behind it: Bruno Marie, who founded Almaviva Santé in 2007, will continue to chair the Group. Yves Journel, founder of Domus Vi, a major group in the nursing home sector and DV France's main shareholder, will also contribute his experience and expertise in the medical field and will chair the Strategic Development Committee. Dr Philippe Lapresle, Chairman of Clinique Arago, will also become a member of the strategic committee.

This synergy reflects the determination of the shareholders to promote a dynamic policy of organic development for each of the establishments, as well as to undertake local external growth operations.

The merger involves DV France contributing its Domus Cliniques Group, which generated sales of €86m in 2014, and the Clinique Arago practitioners contributing sales of €10m in 2014, which, added to Almaviva Santé's 2014 sales of €121m, brings the new Group's sales to €217m.
